Troops neutralise Eight terrorists in Katsina, recover weapons
Troops of the 17 Brigade, under Operation Fasan Yamma, have eliminated eight terrorists during a fierce encounter along the Kurfi–Batsari Road in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, on Thursday in Abuja.
Maj.-Gen. Kangye disclosed that the troops swiftly confronted the terrorists, successfully thwarting their plans after an intense gun battle. The operation led to the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the assailants.
Sadly, one soldier sustained injuries during the exchange but was quickly evacuated to the 17 Brigade Medical Centre for medical attention.
The military assured that the security situation in the area remains calm, with the troops’ morale and combat readiness still high.
Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians, promising to sustain its efforts in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
