Troops neutralise Three suspected bandits in Plateau, recover weapons
Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have eliminated three suspected bandits during a military operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was confirmed by the media officer of the operation, Major Samson Zhakom, in a statement issued on Sunday in Jos.
According to Zhakom, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence about criminal activities in the area.
“Yesterday, troops of Operation Safe Haven, acting on credible intelligence, launched an offensive operation at a criminal hideout on the outskirts of Pinau community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau,” the statement read.
He explained that during the operation, the troops encountered a group of armed criminals who had been terrorising residents along the Pinau–Gimbi road.
“In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, our troops overpowered the criminals with superior firepower and neutralised three of the suspected bandits, while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” Zhakom stated.
He added that the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and a magazine from the scene, while a follow-up operation has since commenced to track down the fleeing suspects.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to securing the region and called on residents to continue providing useful information to aid in the ongoing security efforts.
