UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Peace , Two-State Solution
The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its commitment to peace, tolerance, and the pursuit of a two-state solution as the only viable path to resolving the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
In a statement, Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Envoy of the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, reflected on the significance of the Abraham Accords signed in 2020 under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump. The accords, she explained, were anchored in a vision of peace built on prosperity, coexistence, and tolerance.
According to Nusseibeh, the UAE viewed the accords not as an abandonment of the Palestinian cause but as a pathway to reinforce support for the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people towards an independent state. At the signing, the UAE Foreign Minister, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had welcomed Israel’s decision to suspend annexation plans, describing it as a step towards a better Middle East and a shared will to achieve a brighter future for generations.
Nusseibeh cautioned, however, that renewed proposals to annex parts of the West Bank would contradict this spirit, undermining regional integration and jeopardising the consensus on a peaceful two-state solution. She stressed that such actions would represent a “red line” for the UAE, urging the Israeli government to suspend any annexation plans.
“The path to peace requires courage, persistence, and a refusal to allow extremism or violence to dictate the future of the region,” she noted.
She further outlined that the first steps towards de-escalation must include ending the war in Gaza, ensuring the release of hostages, and preventing Hamas from continuing to control Gaza. Beyond this, she said, the future must focus on restoring law and order in Gaza, ensuring credible and reformed Palestinian governance, and achieving the reunification of Gaza and the West Bank.
The UAE reiterated its unwavering support for a peaceful resolution anchored on the vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace, security, and prosperity.
