The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the employment of 34 Resident Doctors for a seven-year Residency Training Programme in FCTA hospitals.
This recruitment is part of a larger plan to employ 60 medical residency trainees across eight medical faculties and specialties.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, who described it as a move to enhance healthcare delivery in the FCT.
Olayinka noted that this is the first time such employment is being conducted outside the Health Management Board, providing more opportunities for doctors and strengthening the medical workforce in Abuja.

He further stated that the FCTA Civil Service Commission will soon begin the process of recruiting the remaining 26 Resident Doctors.
