Wike confirms appointment of 1,659 FCTA Workers
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 workers employed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in 2016 and 2019.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Ezeh explained that the confirmed workers were among the 2,281 staff members who participated in the confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28.
According to him, a total of 2,512 candidates were invited for the exercise but only 2,281 attended.
He added that 224 officers were absent from the examination, raising suspicion that they could be ghost workers.
Ezeh noted that some of the employees who took part in the confirmation process had been working since 2016 and 2019, while others were recruited shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023.
He further revealed that the Commission has concluded plans to conduct both the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises as approved by the Minister.
Ezeh said the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare and morale of the FCTA workforce.
Affected workers have been advised to visit the Commission’s official website to check the status of their confirmation.
