Iran not in negotiations with US despite ceasefire, foreign ministry says

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday said the country is not currently engaged in any negotiations with the United States, despite the recent halt in hostilities between the two nations.

The ministry’s spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, made the clarification during his weekly press briefing, dismissing reports suggesting that Tehran had sought to resume talks with Washington.

“At present, we are not engaged in any negotiations with the United States,” Baqaei said.

He also denied claims that Iran had requested negotiations, insisting that reports to that effect were false.

The remarks come amid speculation over possible diplomatic engagement following the cessation of recent fighting between Iran and the United States. However, Tehran maintains that no formal discussions are currently taking place.
