Wike approves promotion exercise for 13,000 FCTA, FCDA workers
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced the 2025 promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants following the approval of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The exercise, which begins on Wednesday, July 1, will run for 10 days and involve officers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) across about 150 cadres and grade levels.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, describing the exercise as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the public service in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Ezeh, all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a smooth, transparent and credible promotion process.
He also disclosed that Minister Wike has directed the commission to conduct the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of this year to ensure that no eligible officer is denied career advancement.
Ezeh said the commission has been mandated to work closely with all relevant agencies of the FCTA to guarantee a hitch-free exercise and prevent a recurrence of the challenges experienced during previous promotion exercises.
He appealed to participating officers to remain patient and cooperate fully with officials throughout the exercise.
The commission chairman expressed confidence that the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system would deliver a seamless examination process and wished all eligible officers success in the promotion exercise.
The commission noted that it introduced the Computer-Based Test for promotion examinations in 2024, making it the first civil service commission in Nigeria to adopt the technology barely six months after its inauguration in March of that year.
According to the commission, the adoption of the CBT system has significantly improved transparency, credibility and efficiency in the conduct of promotion examinations within the FCT civil service.
