Wike charges G-7 Committee to strengthen Cross-Border security around FCT

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on the G-7 States Technical Committee to develop effective and adaptable strategies to combat cross-border crimes and improve security in Abuja and neighbouring states.
The G-7 group is made up of the FCT, Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States.
Represented by the FCT Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi-Abuja, on Thursday, Wike urged the committee to “put on their thinking cap” and come up with practical measures that can guarantee the safety of residents.
He also stressed the need for collaboration among security agencies within the G-7 States, adding that such synergy would provide “multiplier benefits in providing security to all and sundry.”
The G-7 Technical Committee is made up of Commissioners of Police, State Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), and Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) from the seven states.
The committee meets periodically to review security threats, design action plans, and present operational strategies for approval and support by the governors of the member states.
