Sudan thrash Nigeria 4-0 to end CHAN hopes

Nigeria’s campaign at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) ended in disappointment after a 4-0 defeat to Sudan in their second Group D match.
The home-based Super Eagles thought they had gone ahead in the 22nd minute when Anthony Ijoma scored from a quick counterattack, but the effort was ruled out for offside. Sudan punished them three minutes later, breaking the deadlock in the 25th minute.
Nigeria’s woes grew in the 44th minute as Sudan doubled their lead from the penalty spot before halftime. The second half brought no improvement, with Sudan adding a third goal in the 55th minute and a fourth in the 62nd minute.
The loss leaves Nigeria bottom of the group with no points, making it impossible to progress even if they win their final game against Congo. Sudan and Senegal are tied on four points, while Congo sit third with one point.
