JUST-IN: Ousmane Dembele wins 2025 Ballon d’Or
Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Ballon d’Or, securing the award for the first time in his career.
The 28-year-old Frenchman was in exceptional form last season, scoring 35 goals and providing 14 assists across 53 appearances as PSG celebrated a treble-winning campaign, which included their maiden UEFA Champions League title.
Dembele finished as joint top scorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals and was also named both Ligue 1 Player of the Year and Champions League Player of the Year. He played a crucial role in guiding PSG to the Club World Cup final, though they narrowly lost to Chelsea in New Jersey.
The winger beat Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal, who picked up the Kopa Trophy for a second consecutive year, to claim the prestigious award.
Although PSG had a league match on Monday night, Dembele was present at the award ceremony in Paris. He is currently sidelined with injury and missed PSG’s 1-0 home defeat to Marseille, a fixture that was rescheduled following a storm.
