Sinner retains China Open Title with dominant win
World number two Jannik Sinner produced a clinical performance to beat American teenager Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in the China Open final on Wednesday, claiming his third title of the season and the 21st of his career.
The victory made him only the second player after Novak Djokovic to win the ATP 500 event more than once, having first lifted the trophy in 2023. Sinner sealed the win on his third match point, showing no signs of slowing down as he prepares for the Shanghai Masters later this week.
His triumph came just a day after Carlos Alcaraz won the Japan Open, making it the first time since 2020 that the world’s top two players both claimed titles in the same week, a feat last achieved by Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
