Adeleke calls for US-Nigeria talks over Trump’s terror threat comment
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for calm and constructive dialogue between Nigeria and the United States following former US President Donald Trump’s recent comments linking Nigeria to terrorism.
In a statement on Sunday, Governor Adeleke said such remarks could strain relations between both countries if not properly handled. He urged the Nigerian government to engage with the US through diplomatic channels to clear any misunderstanding.
Adeleke described Nigeria as a peaceful nation committed to global security, saying millions of Nigerians living abroad contribute positively to the societies they live in.
He appealed to world leaders to avoid statements that could create fear or stigma against Nigerians.
The governor also encouraged citizens to remain law abiding and continue promoting the country’s image through hard work and good conduct.
