All 25 Maga Schoolgirls are Muslims, LG Chairman releases names
The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu, has strongly refuted a claim made by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore suggesting that the abduction of schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, occurred in a Christian community.
Aliyu described the statement as misleading and capable of creating unnecessary religious tension at a time when government agencies are working to rescue the abducted students. He stressed that all 25 abducted schoolgirls are Muslims.
He added that the Maga community, which falls under the Zuru Emirate, has a long record of peaceful coexistence and has never witnessed any form of religious crisis. Aliyu urged foreign officials to avoid making unverified comments that could damage Nigeria’s image or undermine national unity.
