Jonathan safe, departed Guinea-Bissau – FG
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has safely departed Guinea-Bissau following rising political tensions in the country, the Federal Government confirmed on Thursday.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, made this known in an interview with journalists in Abuja.
Jonathan was said to have left the West African nation aboard a special flight, accompanied by members of his delegation, including seasoned diplomat and former UN envoy, Ibn Chambas.
“Former President Jonathan is very safe and out of Guinea-Bissau,” Ebenfa stated. “He left with a special flight with members of his delegation, including Ibn Chambas.”
Jonathan, who was in the country on a regional assignment, was compelled to end his mission earlier than planned due to the unfolding political situation.
