Okpebholo vows to crush crime in Edo State

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared an all-out war against criminals, assuring residents that his administration will work closely with security agencies to restore peace and safety across the state.
Governor Okpebholo made this commitment when he received the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpen Otimenyin, at the Government House in Benin City. He emphasised his confidence in the Commissioner’s ability to combat crime effectively, recalling their long-standing acquaintance.
“We thank the CP for agreeing to work with us. She is a woman with the heart of a man. I have known her since 1994 in Jos, and I promised her then that when I became governor, she would be my Commissioner of Police. I trust her capabilities and believe she will perform excellently,” the governor stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity, Governor Okpebholo pledged full support for the police force, highlighting the state government’s recent provision of security vehicles to aid law enforcement operations.
In response, CP Otimenyin commended the governor for his proactive approach and assured him of the police force’s readiness to root out crime.
“The reason for my visit is to inform Your Excellency that I have resumed duty and am fully prepared to work towards making Edo a crime-free state. We deeply appreciate the security vehicles your administration has provided, which will enhance our operations,” she said.
