…urges collective effort to drive economic diversification
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has pledged full support for the Naija Creates project, highlighting its potential to serve as a flagship initiative for Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy and economic diversification.
Speaking at the Presidential Villa on Monday during a courtesy visit by the CEO of EbonyLife Group, Mo Abudu, the Vice President stressed the need for collective efforts to transform Nigeria’s economy. He affirmed that his office would back the project in all its dimensions.
Shettima commended Abudu for her contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, stating that the country has numerous positive aspects that deserve global recognition. He described Naija Creates as an avenue to further President Bola Tinubu’s economic diversification agenda by promoting Nigeria’s rich creative sector—including tourism, arts, music, and fashion—on the world stage.
The Vice President also invited Abudu to join the federal government’s iDICE team, where she could contribute her expertise towards realising the administration’s objectives in the technology and creative industries.
In her remarks, Abudu described Naija Creates as a platform designed to export and celebrate excellence in Nigeria’s creative sector. She explained that the initiative aims to provide a safe space for showcasing the country’s vast creative talent on the international stage.
Seeking government collaboration, she called on relevant agencies and partners to support the project’s successful execution. She further revealed that Naija Creates would make its international debut in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2025, featuring talents across film, music, fashion, food, and the arts.
