Nigerian Army opens DSSC 29/2026 applications for officer recruitment
The Nigerian Army has opened applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply for commissioning into officer cadre positions.
The announcement was made on Tuesday through a statement published on the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform.
According to the Army, the DSSC programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications required by the force.
Successful applicants will be commissioned as officers into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army, where their expertise will be deployed to strengthen national defence, internal security operations and military professionalism.
The statement listed available corps to include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Nigerian Army Education Corps, among others.
The Army emphasised that the application process is completely free and strictly online, warning prospective applicants to beware of fraudsters.
It added that the recruitment portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026, urging interested candidates to apply early and ensure that all information provided is accurate and verifiable.
