Lagos APC defends Tinubu, says President fully focused on Governance
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in the affairs of governance, dismissing comments credited to Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
The party, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said claims suggesting that the president is not actively governing are misleading and unfounded. Oladejo stressed that Tinubu is deeply involved in policy decisions, security matters and economic reforms, even when not constantly in the public eye.
According to the Lagos APC, governance goes beyond physical appearances and involves behind-the-scenes engagements, consultations and coordination with key national and international stakeholders.
Oladejo said the president has continued to discharge his constitutional responsibilities, adding that Nigerians should judge leadership by results and policies rather than public visibility.
The statement was in response to recent remarks by Obi, who had questioned the president’s level of engagement in governance, comments that have generated political reactions across the country.
The Lagos APC urged political actors to focus on constructive engagement and national development, noting that President Tinubu remains committed to addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
