Okpebholo mourns Ekpoma kidnap victim, orders security clampdown
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed sadness over the death of a victim of kidnapping in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the state, and has pledged a renewed crackdown on criminal activities.
In a statement, the Governor described the incident as tragic and unacceptable, extending condolences to the victim’s family and the people of Ekpoma. He said the killing has caused pain and anxiety among residents and stressed that no citizen should live in fear.
Okpebholo assured that the state government would intensify security operations in Ekpoma and surrounding communities to track down those responsible and prevent a recurrence. He said security agencies have been directed to take decisive action against kidnappers and other criminal elements.
The Governor also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid investigations.
The killing had sparked tension in Ekpoma, with residents and students expressing concern over rising insecurity in the area. The state government said it remains committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Edo State.
