Yusuf Buhari enters 2027 race, declares House of Reps ambition for Daura Constituency
Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.
He is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf made the declaration on Thursday in Daura while addressing party stakeholders and supporters, shortly after a consultation visit to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Wednesday.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, Alhaji Musa Haro, appealed for support for Yusuf’s aspiration, noting the need for collective backing.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support. We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them,” he said.
Haro also acknowledged the performance of the current lawmaker, saying political competition should be viewed constructively.
“Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 per cent,” he added.
Yusuf Buhari was accompanied by a former representative of the constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, alongside other family members during the declaration.
The seat he is contesting is currently held by Hon. Aminu Jamo.
