ADC hails Tony Nwoye’s emergence as Senate Minority Whip
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has congratulated Senator Tony Nwoye on his emergence as Senate Minority Whip, describing the development as evidence of his credibility and the party’s expanding political relevance.
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nwoye’s appointment reflects both personal merit and growing confidence in the ADC as a platform for credible opposition.
Abdullahi said the development also signals the party’s readiness to play a more active role in Nigeria’s democratic and legislative processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
He described Nwoye’s elevation as well deserved, noting his consistency, courage, and commitment to democratic principles.
“This is coming at a time when Nigeria’s democracy requires strengthening, vigilance and a clear voice for accountability,” Abdullahi said.
According to him, the appointment demonstrates that the ADC is not only preparing for elections but also positioning itself to contribute meaningfully to governance through responsible opposition.
He expressed confidence that Nwoye would perform effectively in his new role and help advance legislative accountability and balance within the National Assembly.
The party added that the development reinforces its broader message of integrity, competence, and national renewal as it seeks to deepen its political footprint across the country.
