BREAKING: Seyi Makinde declares 2027 presidential bid under APM, launches “Reset Nigeria Movement”
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement.
Makinde also unveiled a new political platform tagged the “Reset Nigeria Movement” alongside a dedicated presidential campaign website aimed at driving nationwide mobilisation, policy engagement, volunteer registration and diaspora participation.
Speaking at a rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Thursday, the governor said Nigeria requires competent and accountable leadership capable of restoring public trust and strengthening national institutions.
According to him, the country can no longer continue with “politics as usual,” stressing the need for systemic reforms that deliver measurable progress for citizens.
Makinde said, “Nigeria cannot continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions, and create a system that works for all Nigerians.”
The event reportedly attracted political leaders, youth groups, professionals and supporters, marking the official start of what his camp described as a nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration is expected to further reshape political alignments as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify across the country.
