The Governor of Ademola Adeleke has directed security agencies in the state to commence the procurement of drones and other surveillance equipment as part of renewed efforts to tackle rising insecurity.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the directive was given during a security review meeting held on Wednesday, where the governor assessed the current security situation in the state.

Adeleke said the initiative is aimed at strengthening both formal and informal security networks across Osun State and improving intelligence gathering and response capabilities.

> “We are not interested in what has happened in the past. Our goal is to acquire new drones and other needed equipment and materials for our formal and informal security networks to combat crimes and banditry in this state,” the governor said.

He assured residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or individuals.

The governor’s directive comes amid growing concerns over insecurity across several parts of the country, prompting subnational governments to adopt technology-driven surveillance and community-based security strategies.
