NUJ to unveil “Culture Nigeria” compendium in Abuja, spotlighting national heritage and creative sector
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in partnership with O and I Contact Ltd, has concluded plans to launch a cultural publication titled “Culture Nigeria”, a compendium and coffee-table book aimed at celebrating the achievements of notable Nigerians and documenting the country’s cultural and creative heritage.
The launch is scheduled to hold on June 30 at Barcelona Hotels, Wuse 2, Abuja.
According to NUJ National Secretary, Achike Chude, the publication is designed to highlight the contributions of individuals, government institutions, and stakeholders within Nigeria’s arts, culture, and creative economy sectors.
Chude said the compendium will serve as both a reference material and a cultural archive for future generations, while also reinforcing national identity and pride.
“The idea is to have this monumental product to serve as a reminder of who we are and what we are, and most importantly, a reminder of our collective untapped potentials,” he said.
He added that the project seeks to inspire young Nigerians, particularly emerging talents in the music and entertainment industry, to remain proud of their cultural roots while contributing to national development through the creative space.
The NUJ said the publication will also document the efforts of Nigerian music makers and creative professionals whose work continues to shape the country’s cultural values and global image.
The union further explained that the initiative, developed in collaboration with O and I Contact Ltd, is expected to serve as a long-term educational and cultural resource for institutions, organisations, and government agencies.
Special guests expected at the launch include ministers, lawmakers, business leaders, and stakeholders in Nigeria’s arts and entertainment industry.
