A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), over his repeated failure to appear in court.

Justice Mohammed Umar issued a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest on Tuesday following an oral application by the police prosecutor, Wisdom Madaki.

Adeyemi was scheduled to be arraigned on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation in suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025 before the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

However, despite the matter being listed on the court’s cause list, the defendant failed to appear for his arraignment. His lawyer, Genesis Francis, appeared in court on his behalf.

While moving the application, the prosecution informed the court that Adeyemi had repeatedly failed to attend proceedings since the case commenced.

“My Lord, this is the fifth time this case is coming up, and all the adjournments have been at the instance of the defendant,” Madaki told the court.

The prosecutor subsequently urged the court, pursuant to Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, to issue a bench warrant compelling the defendant’s arrest.

Justice Umar granted the application and ordered security agencies to arrest Adeyemi and produce him before the court to answer the charges against him.
