Let me focus on my job, Ribadu Urges El-Rufai
The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has urged former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to allow him to focus on his national duties.
In a message posted on his X handle, Ribadu dismissed El-Rufai’s allegations that he is colluding with Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, to fight those who could hinder his alleged presidential ambition in 2031.
The NSA stated that he has never discussed running for president in 2031 with anyone, emphasising that his focus and energy are entirely dedicated to Nigeria’s progress and the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
Ribadu said:
“My attention has been drawn to an interview granted by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, on Monday evening.
“If my silence would not be mistaken for consent, I would have ignored him. I am far too engaged in my current assignment to engage in a media dispute with Nasir El-Rufai or anyone else.
“Despite the repeated provocations and attacks, I have never spoken ill of Nasir in any public record. This is out of respect for our past association and our respective families. I will not start now.
“However, I urge the public to disregard El-Rufai’s statements about me.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state categorically that I have never discussed running for president in 2031 with anyone. My entire focus and energy remain devoted to Nigeria’s progress and the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
“I therefore urge Nasir El-Rufai to allow me to concentrate on my demanding national responsibilities, just as I do not concern myself with his affairs.”
