Niger Governor Bago dedicates Sun Newspaper award to Farmers, celebrating collective Agricultural success

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the “Farmer Governor,” dedicated his 2024 Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year award in Agriculture to all Nigerian farmers.
He described the honor as a recognition of the efforts of farmers in Niger State and across the country.
The award was presented by the Sun Newspaper in Lagos.
Governor Bago has gained prominence for his agricultural reforms aimed at transforming Niger State.
His administration focuses on large-scale farming, mechanization, and food security initiatives, including allocating 550,000 hectares of farmland to farmers and providing essential inputs like tractors and fertilizers.
These efforts have earned him multiple accolades, reinforcing his commitment to agriculture as a tool for economic growth and poverty alleviation
The farmer Governor appreciates the Management and Staff of the Sun Publishing Limited for the recognition and honour done to him for his efforts in Agriculture.
He reassures the people of renewed commitment towards achieving the agenda of feeding the nation.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, who also doubles as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje congratulates all the Awardees, saying their Awards were well-deserved.
He acknowledges that the Awardees have evidently distinguished themselves in their various categories of Awards.
While highlighting the critical role Journalism played for Nigeria to gain independence, Dr Umar Ganduje enjoins the pen professionals to focus more in developmental journalism and always be guided by its ethics.
Some Awardees for various categories are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Governors of Sokoto, Alh. Ahmad Aliyu; Plateau Mr Caleb Mutfwang; and Kogi, Ahmed Usman Ododo,
Others include Sen. Ali Ndume, Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamu, Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, and the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
