Attahiru Bafarawa foundation distributes N13.8M to Vulnerable groups

The Attahiru Bafarawa Foundation Giving Back Initiative has disbursed N13.8 million in grants to 277 widows, orphaned mothers, and persons with disabilities in Sokoto State. This initiative aims to bolster small-scale businesses and enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chairman of the initiative, Malam Lawal Maidoki, reaffirmed that the programme aligns with the foundation’s mission to alleviate economic hardship among the underprivileged.
“This initiative reflects the vision of our founder, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, to empower disadvantaged communities and provide sustainable means of livelihood,” Maidoki stated.
Strategic Distribution for Maximum Impact
A total of 12 beneficiaries were selected from each of Sokoto’s 23 local government areas (LGAs), comprising 10 widows or orphaned mothers and two individuals with disabilities per LGA. Each recipient will receive N50,000 in financial support, along with transportation assistance ranging from N3,000 to N5,000, depending on their distance from the distribution centres.
Boosting Grassroots Economy
Maidoki emphasised that the grants are intended to help beneficiaries establish or expand their small businesses, reducing dependency and stimulating economic growth at the grassroots level.
“This support is not just about financial aid; it is about empowering people to sustain themselves and contribute to economic growth,” he added.
Community Leaders Commend the Initiative
At the event, the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Malam Yahaya Boyi, lauded former Governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa for his philanthropic endeavours.
“This act of generosity is truly commendable. I urge the beneficiaries to use these funds wisely, invest in productive ventures, and avoid dependency on handouts,” Boyi advised.
He further encouraged recipients to express gratitude through prayers for the donor, Sokoto State, and Nigeria, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
One of the recipients, Shehu Gwiwa, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressing profound appreciation for the foundation’s support and offering prayers for the continued success of all those involved.
With this initiative, the Attahiru Bafarawa Foundation continues to play a transformative role in uplifting vulnerable individuals, fostering self-reliance, and promoting economic inclusion across Sokoto State.
