Bayelsa clinches victory at Maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival

Bayelsa State has emerged as the champion of the inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival held in Uyo, topping the medals table with an impressive haul of 42 gold, 29 silver, and 15 bronze medals.
Delta State secured second place, narrowly trailing Bayelsa with 41 gold, 26 silver, and 32 bronze medals, while Edo State rounded out the top three, collecting 23 gold, 35 silver, and 31 bronze.
Rivers, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Imo, and Cross River completed the standings in that order.
Over 3,000 athletes competed in the week-long event, which featured 17 different sporting disciplines. The festival also proved to be a significant talent scout, with more than 60 promising athletes identified for future development.
