Nigeria Police Force to begin training of 10,000 recruits nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force will officially commence the training of 10,000 newly recruited constables on Saturday, April 12 across various police colleges and training schools nationwide.

This initiative is a key part of the Force’s broader strategic plan to enhance law enforcement capacity and improve public safety throughout the country.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. The training program follows a preparatory orientation ceremony held on Friday, April 11, for the commandants and directing staff of the training institutions.

Represented virtually by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Training and Development, DIG Frank Mba, the IGP emphasized the importance of upholding the highest ethical standards during the training. He urged the commandants to embrace the ongoing police reforms and maintain firm professional conduct.

“The commandants of the training colleges and schools must embrace the ongoing police reforms, uphold the highest ethical standards, and demonstrate firm professional conduct throughout the course of the training,” said Egbetokun.

The IGP also highlighted that the welfare of the recruits would be a priority throughout the training period, with special attention given to their feeding, accommodation, and general environment.

“The administration is committed to prioritizing the welfare of recruits in training, ensuring they have a stable and conducive environment throughout the period,” he added.

In his address, the IGP further urged the recruits to demonstrate good conduct and uphold policing ethics throughout their training and future service.

“Recruits must be of good character and uphold positive policing ethics in the course of their training and career,” he stressed.

Egbetokun also took the opportunity to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing support for the Nigeria Police Force, particularly his administration’s commitment to strengthening internal security across the country.

“We thank the President and Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his dedication and commitment towards improving the operational strength and capability of the Nigeria Police Force,” he stated.

This training marks a significant step in the continued development of Nigeria’s law enforcement and is expected to enhance the capacity of the police to serve the communities effectively and ensure national security.
