Step-by-step guide to check 2025 UTME results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, while confirming that 39,834 candidates’ results have been withheld due to suspected examination malpractices.
This development comes after over 1.9 million candidates took part in the nationwide assessment exercise.
Speaking during the official announcement, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed that 80 suspects linked to examination fraud are currently being interrogated across different states, with Anambra State recording the highest number of suspects at 14.
He also disclosed that while 467 underage candidates met the required minimum score for admission consideration, 50 others were involved in exam-related cheating.
For candidates eager to check their 2025 UTME results, the Board provided detailed guidelines on both SMS and online result-checking procedures.
How to Check UTME Results Online:
Visit the official JAMB result portal.
Enter the phone number used during registration or your JAMB registration number.
Click on “Check My Results” to instantly view your scores. It is advised to screenshot or print it for future reference.
How to Check UTME Results via SMS:
Using the phone number registered with JAMB, send UTMERESULT to 55019. Ensure you have at least ₦50 airtime.
Your result will be sent via SMS. If you don’t receive a response immediately, try again after some time.
Possible Issues When Checking Results:
“Result Not Available”: Your result may still be under processing.
“Result Withheld”: Indicates the result is being withheld by JAMB.
Incorrect Phone Number: Only the number used for JAMB registration can access the result via SMS.
Network Delays: Ensure good internet or mobile network connection before trying again.
Next Steps After Checking Your Result: Candidates are advised to compare their scores with the cut-off marks of their preferred universities or polytechnics.
Those who meet the requirement should start preparing for the post-UTME screening or other admission processes. For candidates who scored below expectations, alternatives such as changing institutions, switching courses, or applying to universities like Miva Open University, which do not require UTME, should be considered.
How to Print the Official UTME Result Slip:
Log in to the JAMB e-facility portal using your email and password.
Select “Print Result Slip”, make the necessary payment, and download the slip, as some institutions demand it during admission processing.
Checking Admission Status: After checking results, candidates are encouraged to monitor their admission progress through JAMB CAPS:
Visit the JAMB CAPS portal.
Click on “Check Admission Status” and follow the instructions.
If offered admission, promptly accept or reject the offer as directed.
As the 2025 UTME admission season progresses, candidates are reminded to remain vigilant, avoid fraudsters, and strictly follow official channels for all result and admission-related updates.
