NFF Chief Ibrahim Gusau becomes new WAFU Zone B President

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has been appointed the new President of the West African Football Union (WAFU), Zone B.
His ascension follows the resignation of Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who vacated the role after securing a seat on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) two months ago.
A statement issued from the WAFU Zone B headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, confirmed Gusau’s appointment, noting that it has been warmly received by member nations. Stakeholders have expressed confidence in his capacity to maintain stability and bring renewed energy to the sub-regional football body.
Gusau, who assumed office as NFF President on 30 September 2022, previously served as the First Vice President of WAFU Zone B. His elevation is anticipated to enhance Nigeria’s standing in West African football governance and enable him to spearhead key development initiatives across the region.
