NSIB launches investigation into aircraft crash-landing at Ilorin Airport
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an on-site investigation following the crash-landing of a Diamond training aircraft at Ilorin Airport.
According to a statement from the bureau, the incident occurred during a simulated instrument approach on Runway 05 at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport.
The Director General of the NSIB, Captain Alex Badeh Jnr, visited the scene and confirmed that the aircraft’s data card has been retrieved for analysis.
The Bureau stated that four specialists will remain at the site to carry out essential measurements before returning to Abuja.

Captain Badeh assured the public of the Bureau’s commitment to a transparent and thorough investigation.
He further confirmed that both occupants of the aircraft are conscious, in stable condition, and currently receiving medical attention. One of them has undergone an MRI scan.
The Director General reiterated that the nation’s airspace remains safe and pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
A preliminary report is expected within 30 days.
