Drama as Oshiomhole, Air Peace clash over missed flight in Lagos
A heated incident unfolded at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Wednesday morning, with Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the centre of the disruption.
The former Edo State governor reportedly arrived at the airport around 6:10 a.m. for a 6:30 a.m. Air Peace flight to Abuja, only to find the boarding gate already closed.
According to an official statement released by Air Peace, the airline maintained that the flight departed as scheduled, and passengers were expected to arrive well before departure for safety and operational reasons.
The airline alleged that upon discovering he had missed the flight, Oshiomhole reacted aggressively by assaulting staff and barricading the entrance of Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall), preventing other travellers from accessing the facility.
The airline strongly condemned the senator’s conduct, describing it as unacceptable and disruptive.
“This behaviour caused significant operational delays and inconvenienced numerous travellers,” Air Peace stated, adding that it had to activate contingency plans to board affected passengers through an alternative terminal.
The management emphasized that it operates a strict zero-tolerance policy against violence or aggression towards its staff and passengers, regardless of anyone’s status.
“Air Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values,” the statement read.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians online condemning the senator’s reported conduct and calling for accountability.
As of press time, Senator Oshiomhole is yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
