The Federal Government has arraigned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on a three-count charge bordering on alleged defamation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

The charges stem from claims made by the senator accusing both political figures of plotting to assassinate her.

Senator Natasha, who arrived at the court premises alongside her husband, a former Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili, activist Aisha Yesufu, and a group of supporters, was formally charged for making imputations intended to cause harm to Akpabio and Bello.

One of the key charges is connected to a public allegation where she accused the Senate President and the ex-Kogi governor of conspiring to take her life. The case has since generated intense public interest, given Natasha’s bold activism and outspoken stance in the nation’s political space.

The arraignment follows a series of warnings by federal authorities against spreading unsubstantiated claims capable of inciting public unrest or tarnishing the image of public office holders.
