NAHCON unveils N8.4m, N8.7m for northern, southern pilgrims in new Hajj fares

…prospective pilgrims urged to register early as fare details emerge

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), led by its Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has announced the 2025 Hajj fares following approval from the Office of the Vice President.

Intending pilgrims from Nigeria’s northern zone will pay ₦8,457,685.59, while those from Borno and Adamawa zones are set to pay ₦8,327,125.59. Pilgrims in the southern states will pay the highest, with the fare pegged at ₦8,784,085.59.

In a statement issued early Monday, January 20, by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director of Information and Publication at NAHCON, the commission emphasised that the fares were determined after thorough consultations aimed at inclusivity and cost efficiency.

Professor Usman commended the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, including representatives from the Presidency, led by Malam Ameen Amshi, Special Assistant to the President, Special Duties. He noted that these efforts ensured the 2025 fares remain within a similar range to previous years, despite global economic challenges.

“We extend our gratitude to the Presidency and the Forum of State Executive Secretaries, whose active participation helped prevent a significant rise in costs. This is a testament to our collective commitment to making the spiritual journey accessible,” the Chairman stated.

The Forum of State Executive Secretaries, including its Chairman, Malam Idris Ahmad Almakura of Nasarawa State, his deputy, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu Yaro from Kebbi State, and Alhaji Abubakar Salihu of Adamawa State, played key roles in the consultations.

NAHCON advised prospective pilgrims to visit its official website, nahcon.gov.ng, or contact their State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards for a detailed breakdown of the fare. Intending pilgrims are urged to register early, adhere to Saudi guidelines, and ensure timely payments to avoid last-minute challenges.

The commission’s announcement reaffirms its commitment to facilitating a seamless and affordable Hajj experience for all Nigerians.
