LASU calls off strike, sets August 13 for resumption
The Senate of Lagos State University (LASU) has ended its industrial action following a resolution by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) after a meeting with Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, last Thursday.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the JAC approved the immediate resumption of academic and social activities from Wednesday, 13th August 2025.
The Senate resolved that all activities should resume on the same date, students should return to their hostels in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe campuses from Wednesday, and the 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, earlier suspended, will now commence on Monday, 18th August 2025.
“Students are advised to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations,” the statement read.
The Senate had earlier, on 2nd August 2025, suspended all activities after the JAC of Staff Unions declared an industrial action on 31st July 2025.
