ADC crisis: David Mark, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, others meet in Abuja
Chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and David Mark, on Thursday convened a press conference in Abuja to address the media over the party’s ongoing leadership dispute.
The briefing comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) removed David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of ADC, respectively, escalating tensions within the party.
Very Nigerian reported that INEC also said it would not recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is seeking to be declared national chairman through the courts.
The Commission further announced that it had suspended recognition of all factions within the party and would not monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups aligned with the affected leaders.
According to INEC, the decision will remain in effect pending the final determination of a substantive suit before the Federal High Court.
