APC announces 2027 election timetable, sets presidential form at ₦100m, governorship ₦50m

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, fixing the cost of its presidential nomination form at N100 million and the governorship form at N50 million.

The timetable, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and announced in a statement by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka on Monday night in Abuja, stated that the schedule was prepared in line with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revised timetable for the 2027 polls.

Under the arrangement, presidential aspirants will pay N30 million for expression of interest and N70 million for nomination, totalling N100 million. Governorship aspirants are expected to pay N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination, bringing their total to N50 million.

For other elective positions, Senate aspirants will pay N20 million in total (N3 million expression of interest and N17 million nomination), while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N10 million. Aspirants for State House of Assembly seats will pay N6 million, broken down into N1 million for expression of interest and N5 million for nomination.

The party also introduced concessions for certain categories, stating that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will only pay the expression of interest fee and 50 percent of the nomination fee for their respective positions.

According to the timetable, APC state chapters were formally notified of the election activities from Monday, April 20, 2026, while the sale of nomination forms at the National Secretariat will run from Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2, 2026. The deadline for submission of completed forms and documents is Monday, May 4, 2026.

Screening of aspirants for various offices, including State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions, is scheduled for May 6 to May 8, 2026. Presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9, with results to be released on May 11. Screening appeals will hold from May 12 to May 13, 2026.

Primary elections will begin with the presidential primary on May 15 to May 16, followed by House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State House of Assembly on May 21, and governorship on May 23, 2026. Appeals arising from the primaries will follow immediately after each exercise.

The APC said it remains committed to conducting a transparent and credible primary process, noting that the exercise is aimed at strengthening internal democracy and consolidating the party’s progressive ideals.
