BINANI AIR first commercial flight lands in Lagos
Nigeria’s growing domestic aviation sector recorded another significant milestone on Monday as BINANI AIR successfully operated its first commercial flight to Lagos, further expanding its route network and strengthening connectivity between major cities across the country.
The flight, which departed Abuja amid excitement from passengers and aviation stakeholders, arrived in Lagos smoothly, with travellers commending the airline’s punctuality, professionalism and onboard experience.
Speaking shortly before departure, the Group President of Binani Air described the Lagos operation as a major step in the airline’s vision of building a dependable and customer-focused indigenous carrier capable of serving the needs of Nigerians.
According to her, the successful commencement of flights to Lagos reflects the airline’s determination to contribute meaningfully to economic growth, business mobility and national integration through efficient air transport services.
“Today’s flight to Lagos represents more than an expansion of routes; it reflects our commitment to connecting people, businesses and opportunities across Nigeria. We are building an airline founded on safety, discipline, professionalism and service excellence. Our goal is to continually earn the trust of Nigerians through consistency and reliability,” the Group President stated.
She also appreciated passengers for the confidence shown in the airline within the first days of operation, assuring them that customer satisfaction and operational safety would remain top priorities.
Also speaking, the Chairperson, Ashatu Dahiru Binani, said the airline remained committed to supporting the Federal Government’s drive towards economic growth and improved transportation infrastructure.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies aimed at encouraging private sector participation within the aviation industry, noting that the sector requires sustained collaboration between regulators and operators to thrive.


“We are proud to see this vision continue to grow. Lagos is a strategic commercial destination and this operation marks another important chapter for Binani Air. We remain committed to ethical operations, safety compliance and delivering quality services that Nigerians can be proud of,” she said.
Ashatu Binani further assured passengers that the airline would continue to uphold global best practices while investing in service delivery, manpower development and operational efficiency.
Passengers onboard the inaugural Lagos flight expressed satisfaction with the airline’s services, describing the experience as smooth and professionally coordinated.
A business traveller, who chose to remain anonymous said the timely departure and organised boarding process stood out for him.
“I am impressed with the professionalism displayed by the airline. From check-in to boarding, everything was orderly and stress-free. If they maintain this standard, many Nigerians will embrace the airline,” he said.
He added that “the crew members were courteous and the flight experience was pleasant. It is encouraging to see another Nigerian airline focused on customer satisfaction and punctuality,” she stated.
Similarly, a Lagos-based entrepreneur, said the affordability of the fares and smooth coordination of activities gave him confidence in the airline’s future.
“There is huge potential here. The flight departed on time and the service was excellent. This is the kind of competition the aviation sector needs,” he added.
Meanwhile, officials of the airline both in Abuja and Lagos stations, said the Lagos route would further improve travel options for passengers while supporting commerce, tourism and regional connectivity within Nigeria.
