Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years’ imprisonment over corruption linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
The court delivered the judgment on Wednesday, convicting Mamman on a 12-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The sentences were ordered to run consecutively, bringing the total jail term to 75 years.
Justice Omotosho also ruled that the sentence will commence from the day the former minister is arrested.
He further directed all security agencies to ensure Mamman’s arrest wherever he may be found.
The court ordered the final forfeiture of all monies and properties recovered from the former minister to the Federal Government.
In addition, Justice Omotosho ordered Mamman to refund the outstanding balance from the alleged ₦22 billion linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
The ruling marks one of the most significant corruption convictions involving a former federal cabinet minister in recent years.
