BREAKING: Supreme court sacks Julius Abure as labour Party’s National chairman

The Supreme Court has nullified the Court of Appeal’s judgment that recognised Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

In a unanimous ruling, a five-member panel of the apex court held that the Court of Appeal did not have the jurisdiction to pronounce Abure as National Chairman, noting that the matter at hand was centred on the party’s internal leadership, which courts do not have jurisdiction over.

The Supreme Court also upheld the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman and another party, deeming it meritorious. At the same time, the court dismissed the cross-appeal filed by the Abure faction of the Labour Party, stating it lacked merit.
