Céline Dion Steps Out in Paris Ahead of Highly Anticipated Stage Return
Céline Dion has made a rare public appearance in Paris as she prepares to return to the stage following years of health challenges.
The Grammy-winning singer was spotted outside her hotel in the French capital on Friday, August 28, wearing a beige trench coat and sunglasses as she acknowledged fans and photographers.
Dion’s appearance comes ahead of a series of performances in Paris scheduled to begin in September, marking another major step in her return to live music.
The shows will follow her emotional performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she made a memorable comeback to the international stage.
Announcing the upcoming performances in March, Dion described the shows as a special birthday gift to herself.
“This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life. I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you,” she told fans in a video.
The 58-year-old singer has spent the past several years managing stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder she publicly revealed she had been diagnosed with in 2022.
The condition caused severe muscle spasms and significantly affected her ability to perform, eventually forcing her to step away from regular live shows.
Despite the challenges, Dion has remained determined to return to music and reconnect with her audience.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month, the singer said she wanted her return to give fans something meaningful after their long separation.
“It’s been so long, I would like to offer them something to show how I’ve missed them,” she said.
Dion has also spoken about the intensive physical preparation involved in regaining the strength needed for live performances, including working with medical and fitness professionals.
“The way I see it, I have two choices,” she said. “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over.”
Her upcoming Paris performances are expected to continue through May 2027.
The shows represent a significant new chapter for the iconic singer as she continues her comeback after years away from regular live performances.
