The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the hearing of a case filed by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and other respondents over alleged certificate forgery.

Justice Hauwa Yilwa ordered the adjournment following the failure of counsel representing UNN and its officers to file their responses to the suit.

Nnaji, the applicant, had dragged the Minister of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), the University of Nigeria, its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simon Ortuanya, and three others before the court.

In his ex-parte motion, the minister sought an order prohibiting the university and its officials from tampering with or continuing to tamper with his academic records.

He also requested the court to issue an order of mandamus compelling UNN and its officials to release his academic transcript. Additionally, Nnaji asked the court to direct the Minister of Education and the NUC to use their supervisory powers to ensure compliance by the university.
