Daylight Robbery
I’d heard from several persons about how their encounters with armed and unarmed robbers went, and I’ve always prayed that such would be forever far from me, until one fateful day I saw first hand, the operations of a robber in broad daylight!!!
I had gone to an office to carry out some work, and as I had a conversation with the staff, my attention was suddenly drawn to a car that was parked in front of the office complex, and a certain cute, well dressed young man was struggling with the car ignition, to get it started.
At first, I thought the car probably just developed a fault, and I thought the guy trying to get the car started was sent by the owner of the car, because I know the lady that own the car; but when this guy continued the struggle to get the car started, I got more concerned, as I looked out from the window in the office I was in, being on the second floor of the building. I had to get the attention of the staff of the office I was at, to what I was noticing, then we stepped out of the office, to the balcony, to be able to get a better view of what was going on.
Suddenly, when the guy noticed eyes were now on him, he rushed out of the car he’s been trying to force start, without success, and practically ran into another vehicle that was parked in front of this car he had been trying to get to start, then they sped off!!!
Oh my God!!!
Did I just witness an attempted day light robbery? That was when the whole scene added up in my mind, and moments later, the authentic owner of the car came out to where the car was parked, and found out her car door had been forced open, the ignition had gone bad because the day light robber was trying to force the car ignition to start, but thankfully, her vehicle security locks were well activated, that prevented the robber from being able to steal the car.
After that day, I started looking at parked cars outside premises, especially in the city center of the FCT in a different light, always hoping that the legitimate owners of such cars had their security looks activated, and also each time I saw a vehicle parked, with the ignition running and someone on the driver’s seat, my mind goes back to that attempted daylight robbery, and I always say in my mind, I hope this is not part of a robbery gang, waiting for their gang members to be done robbing nearby and join them in the car to get away.
If you own a car, it’s too important to ensure your security locks are always activated, and be careful when you go to areas where the parking spaces within the compounds are inadequate, forcing you to park outside, because there’s been reported increase in day light robberies within the city.
Be sure your car is secured. Stay alert always!!!
