FRSC sets new benchmark in staff welfare with landmark promotion of over 2,000 personnel
In a landmark move underscoring its commitment to staff welfare and professional development, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced one of its most far-reaching promotion exercises, involving over 2,000 officers and marshals nationwide.
The ongoing promotion, described by many within the organisation as a “new dawn,” cuts across all sectors of the Corps and includes officers ranging from Chief Route Commander to Assistant Route Commander, alongside several ranks within the marshal cadres.
According to a statement signed by Assistant Corps Marshal and Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the initiative is not merely a routine administrative exercise but a bold affirmation of the Corps’ commitment to rewarding excellence, boosting morale, and fostering institutional growth.
“The promotion wave was meticulously planned to ensure transparency, inclusiveness, and fairness, with all qualified personnel across the 12 zonal commands actively participating in the process,” the statement noted.
Since assuming office, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed has prioritised a people-centred approach to leadership, advocating consistently for merit-based promotions, improved working conditions, and enhanced training opportunities. He has repeatedly emphasised that a motivated and well-recognised workforce is key to achieving the Corps’ mission of safer roads and reduced fatalities across Nigeria.
In recent months, the Corps has rolled out a number of welfare-driven reforms including better staff housing schemes, performance-based assessments, capacity-building initiatives, and strengthened feedback mechanisms for internal communication and engagement.
Speaking during a briefing for the personnel undergoing promotion, the Corps Marshal assured them that this latest effort is only the beginning of broader institutional reforms. He reiterated his commitment to building a world-class road safety organisation anchored on professionalism, integrity, and global best practices.
“As the FRSC continues to evolve in response to Nigeria’s dynamic traffic and safety landscape, the message is clear: under the current leadership, staff welfare is not an afterthought, it is a strategic priority,” Ogungbemide stated.
With the promotion process approaching its conclusion, expectations are high that this transformative gesture will reinforce a culture of hard work, professionalism, and dignity within the Corps, ensuring that FRSC remains not only an agent of road safety, but also a model of progressive public service.
