By Sharoneez Emephia
Women across various industries gathered for a groundbreaking one-day masterclass, “Own Your Stage – Accelerate Action,” organised by Otota Oratory Limited.
The event, which focused on empowering female MCs, brought together distinguished speakers and professionals dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in public speaking and event hosting.

The masterclass featured keynote addresses from renowned figures, including Senkoya Omawumi, Lara Owoeye-Wise among others . These industry leaders shared their experiences and insights on effective communication, stage presence, and professional growth.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, emphasised the significance of the platform in fostering confidence and leadership among women.
“Today, we gather under the theme ‘Own Your Stage, Accelerate Action.’ This is not just a call to action; it is a reminder that each of us has a unique role to play in shaping our world. Whether you are a journalist, an entrepreneur, or a community leader, your voice matters,” she stated.

She further underscored the importance of mastering MCing skills, noting that “MCing is not just about hosting events; it is about commanding a stage, engaging audiences, and amplifying voices. For women, this skill is a powerful tool in asserting their presence and leadership in various settings.”
Highlighting the need for mentorship and education, Comrade Ike encouraged women to invest in their personal and professional development.
“By equipping young women with MCing skills, we empower them to take centre stage, share their stories, and inspire others,” she remarked.
