JUST-IN: ASUU declares Two-Week nationwide warning strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a total and comprehensive two-week warning strike, affecting all public universities across Nigeria.
ASUU’s National President, Professor Chris Piwuna, made the announcement during a press conference on Sunday at the University of Abuja.
He said the decision followed the government’s failure to make meaningful progress in addressing the union’s long-standing demands.
Piwuna explained that the 14-day ultimatum issued on September 28, 2025, had expired without any tangible response from the relevant authorities, prompting the union to proceed with its industrial action.
He noted that all ASUU branches nationwide have been instructed to fully withdraw their services starting at midnight on Monday, October 13, 2025.
According to him, the strike would be both total and comprehensive, in line with the resolution reached at the union’s most recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
