JUST-IN: JAMB releases 2025 UTME result breakdown, over 50% score below 200

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a comprehensive analysis of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

The performance breakdown, published on Monday, detailed how candidates fared across various score ranges. According to the data, 4,756 candidates, representing 0.24% of the total candidates, scored 320 and above. An additional 7,658 candidates, or 0.39%, scored between 300 and 319.

Altogether, 12,414 candidates, making up 0.63% of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat the examination, scored 300 and above.

In the 250 to 299 score band, 73,441 candidates (3.76%) achieved this range, while 334,560 candidates (17.11%) scored between 200 and 249.

A significant number, 983,187 candidates, accounting for 50.29%, scored between 160 and 199. Meanwhile, 488,197 candidates, or 24.97%, recorded scores in the 140 to 159 bracket.

Further statistics revealed that 57,419 candidates (2.94%) scored between 120 and 139. Additionally, 3,820 candidates (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119, while 2,031 candidates (0.10%) had scores below 100.

The examination board also disclosed that 40,247 underage candidates took part in the examination. Of this number, only 467 (1.16%) attained scores considered to reflect outstanding academic ability. These candidates are expected to undergo additional screening.

JAMB’s report further indicated that 97 candidates were confirmed to have engaged in examination malpractice, while 2,157 others remain under investigation for suspected infractions.

In addition, 71,701 candidates were absent from the examination. The board stated that candidates who encountered biometric issues are still being screened. Those who are cleared will be rescheduled to sit the examination at designated centres.

Meanwhile, results for visually impaired candidates and others under the JEOG category are still being processed.

JAMB has announced that a press conference will be
held later this week to officially release individual results and provide guidance on result-checking procedures.
