JAMB sets 150 as cut-off mark for universities, Polys, CoEs at 100
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially set 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into universities across Nigeria for the 2025 academic session.
This decision was made public during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which took place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, the cut-off mark for colleges of nursing is pegged at 140, while polytechnics, colleges of education, and colleges of agriculture have their admission threshold set at 100. JAMB made this known through a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
In a related development, the Federal Government has introduced a new minimum admissible age for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions. Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, revealed during the same policy meeting that candidates must now be at least 16 years of age to qualify for admission. This age requirement will be enforced via JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). However, provisions will be made for applicants who would turn 16 by the 31st of August, 2025.
This latest decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to standardise the nation’s admission process and ensure maturity among students entering tertiary institutions.
